Originally a general practitioner, Dr. Robert Colburn completed an orthopaedic residency and subsequently joined together with Dr. William Douglas in an orthopaedic practice. The original practice was located near St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Medical Surgical Group building (a jointly owned medical office building).
In 1973, the practice was incorporated under the name of Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates, PA. In 1982, the group moved into a new building located at 320 Warner Drive with a beautiful view of the surrounding Valley. Dr. Colburn is still with the group, although now semi-retired. The Clinic has six full-time physicians and 39 employees.
The current practicing physicians and their sub-specialties are as follows:
- Dr. Marvin Kym: Joined in 1992; General Orthopaedics, Joints, Arthroscopy
- Dr. Timothy Flock: Joined in 1995; General Orthopaedics with a Fellowship in Foot and
Ankle
- Dr. Gregory Dietrich: Joined in 1998; General Orthopaedics with a Fellowship in Spine
- Dr. Regan Hansen: Joined in 1999; General Orthopaedics, Joints, Arthroscopy
- Dr. Steven Boyea: Joined in 2001; General Orthopaedics with a Fellowship in Hand
- Dr. Beardsley: Joined in
2007; General Orthopaedics, Joint Reconstruction
With the addition of sub-specialties, the practice has grown tremendously in the last four years. Lewiston Orthopaedic Associates (LOA) serves the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley of approximately 60,000 people. However, patients are drawn from as far as a 100-mile radius of the Valley. In order to keep up with the demand, and to continue to provide high quality care to patients, the group began construction of an outpatient surgery center in 2003.
Completed in May 2004, Lewis & Clark Outpatient Surgery is owned by five of the physicians and consists of two operating rooms with a minor procedure room. It is anticipated that the outpatient surgery center will have a case load of over 2,000 outpatient surgery cases per year.
